The Riverside School District and Old Forge School District will receive a combined $42,001 in school safety grants, state Rep. Bridget M. Kosierowski, D-Lackawanna, announced.
Kosierowski said the funding will enable the school districts to prevent and reduce violent incidents by purchasing safety and security-related equipment and to provide for the training and compensation of school resource and police officers.
Riverside School District is awarded $22,003 in the form of a 2019-20 equipment grant. Old Forge School District is awarded $19,998 in the form of a 2019-20 program grant.
This funding is part of the $7.3 million in School Safety Grants the Pennsylvania Department of Education is awarding to both public and non-public school districts throughout the commonwealth.
