Movies at the Library

Taylor Community Library, 710 S. Main St. in Taylor, will hold free movie screenings.

• Monday, Oct. 22, at 12:30 p.m.: “Chappaquiddick.”

• Wed., Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m.: “Psycho II.”

Local Student Honored

Jordan Fritz of Avoca was honored at Wilkes University’s Allan P. Kirby Center for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship third annual mentor breakfast. Fritz was named the Kirby Scholar of Communications. Kirby scholars undergo a rigorous selection process involving a review committee of faculty, Allan P. Kirby Center staff and the executive-in-residence. The scholars provide services to the clients and to the Allan P. Kirby Center. In turn, they receive valuable experience in their field of study and formal recognition of their work.

Rummage Sale

The Altar Society at St. George’s Church, 743 S. Keyser Ave. in Taylor, will hold a rummage sale on Saturday, Oct. 20, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition there will be an ethnic food sale featuring pierogies, halupki, haluski, wimpies and hot dogs. Baked goods will also be available for purchase.

Reunion Planning

The Riverside Class of 1969 will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. at Grande Pizza on Birney Avenue in Moosic.All interested members are encouraged to attend. Call 570-351-6790.

Off to College

Old Forge High School graduate Ashley Bound, of Old Forge is a member of the Colgate University Class of 2022.

Class Representative

Scarlett Spager of Old Forge was recently elected as a class representative of the class of 2022 at King’s College. Spager is a first-year physician-assistant major. She is also the news director, reporter and deejay at WRKC, the college’s radio station. She graduated from the Emerging Leaders program at King’s.

She attended Old Forge High School, where she was a member of the Blue and Gold chapter of the National Honor Society, a student ambassador, and the recipient of the Senator John Blake scholarship. She was also a member of Tomorrow’s Leaders Today sponsored by Leadership Lackawanna.

Church Rummage Sale

The Moosic Presbyterian Church Youth Group will be holding its annual rummage sale on Saturday, Oct. 13, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Moosic Presbyterian Church 625 Main St. in Moosic.
