Only 250 tickets will be available for a designer purse bingo on Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Eagle McClure Hose Co. No. 1, 375 Milwaukee Ave. in Old Forge. Doors will open at 11 a.m.; first bingo game starts at 1 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Admission includes 20 games of bingo. There will be four specials, plus raffle tickets, and a 50/50 raffle. Purses will include Coach, Dooney & Bourke, Michael Kors and more. ‘Lizzie: A Rock Musical”

Basic Tai Chi
Taylor Community Library, 710 S. Main St. in Taylor, will hold a class on tai chi and qigong basics for adults with Lorrie Raemsch on Monday, Oct. 23, 11 a.m. to noon. Tai Chi is a graceful movement exercise to allow energy to flow throughout the body. Qigong is a healing art that focuses on breathing techniques and physical posture. On the Team
The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced that 100 student athletes are competing on the Assumption College Football team this season. Local student athletes include: Tyler Armillay of Taylor, Joe Bruno of Old Forge and Corey Souryavong of Duryea .
Wilkes University student Patrick Kaczmarczyk of Duryea was awarded the UPS Scholarship through the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania in the amount of $2,600. Kaczmarczyk is a senior nursing major. The UPS Scholarship is awarded based on characteristics such as first generation of a family to attend college, low-income, minority or new American students.
