Bank Holds Kids Event

Fidelity Bank will host “Sing-a- long with Sammy” at the Fidelity Bank Playhouse at McDade Park (near the soccer fields), 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 20. A meet and greet with Green Team mascot, Sammy Saves-a- Lot, will be followed by a sing-a- long performance by local singer and songwriter, Lily Mao. A story time and a children’s gardening presentation by the Lackawanna College Environmental Education Center is scheduled and kids will get to plant flowers to take home and start their own garden. There will be snacks and giveaways. Admission is free.

‘Forever Dance’

Dancing Dreams Studio of Dance presents “Forever Dance” on Thursday, May 25, at 6:30 p.m. at Riverside Junior-Senior High School, 300 Davis St. in Taylor. Tickets will be available at the door. For more information, please call 570-335-6536.

Pierogie Sale

St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, Church and Winter streets in Old Forge will hold a pierogie sale on Tuesday June 6, 2-5 p.m. The deadline for ordering is Tuesday, May 30. Orders can be placed by calling 570-457-9280 or 570-457-2875 and leave a message. Price is $6.50 per dozen. This will be the last sale before the summer break.

Honor Society

Courtney Enderline of Old Forge, Pennsylvania, was recently inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.

Medical Degree

Frank Anzelmi of Old Forge and 86 others members of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine’s (Geisinger Commonwealth) graduating Class of 2017, received a doctor of medicine (MD) degree.

‘Service to Class’

Recently Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine master of biomedical sciences (MBS) students attended an awards ceremony held to recognize the significant achievements of the MBS class of 2017. Stephanie Tilberry of Taylor received the Service to Class award.

The Service to Class award is presented to an MBS student who worked hard to plan events for the class, continue traditions started by previous classes and create new initiatives to share with future classes. The recipient ensured the MBS class collaborated with other school of medicine students, clubs and organizations and was actively involved in the Geisinger Commonwealth community.

Tilberry received a master of biomedical sciences degree.

‘Our Town’ Submissions

Now that the filming of the “Our Town: Taylor” documentary is complete, anyone who brought photos, signs, books, etc. to the filming and have not picked them up can do so at the library. The library’s hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; closed Sundays and holidays.
