Read-a-thon fundraising

The Old Forge Elementary School Read-a-Thon raised $13,377 through the generous support of family, friends and community members.

We will receive $10,032.75 to use on creating a sensory room.

The top fundraising students, who raised more than $400 were: Kamryn Notari $425, Aria Chludzinski $425, Daniel Churla $475 and Ava Barron $475, the top fundraising homerooms: Ms. Puckett class, $1,205, and Aversa’s class, $1,265.

Honor society induction

Sarah Cherundolo of Old Forge were among the 38 University of Scranton students inducted into Chi Delta Rho, the University’s chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, the international honor society for counseling. The University’s chapter of the honor society was established in 1994.

Marking period, report cards

Old Forge School District: early dismissal is Friday, April 12: High schiool dismissal is 11:07 a.m.

and 11:22 a.m.

Teacher coferences: Friday, April 12; high school: 12:30 p.m. and elementary school 1-3:30 p.m.

Spring break: early dismissal: Thursday, April 18; high school 1:10 p..m. No school: Friday,, April 19 &, Monday, April 22.

Polish language classes

Polish language classes will restart Thursday, 4-5:30 p.m. at the Taylor Community Library. Call 570-562-2007 for more information.

Honor society

Christina Brannon of Old Forge was among the University of Scranton students inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the national honor society for communication majors. The University’s chapter was established in 1999.

Food bank donations

Non-perishable food items and monetary donations for the Commission on Economic Opportunity Weinberg’s food bank will be collected during the month of April at the Taylor Branch of

Citizens Savings Bank, 137 S. Main Ave. in Taylor.

Spring yard sale

Sell your stuff, shop for bargains St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic church will hold a spring yard sale on Saturday April 27, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rain or shine) at 200 Stephenson St. in Duryea. For $10 you can rent a 8-foot-by-2-foot table space (You must bring your own tables) to sell your unwanted treasures. Set-up time is 8 a m. Vendors and crafters welcome. Fire co. breakfast
