Studying abroad

Local residents were among the 146 University of Scranton students who studied abroad during the Intersession 2019 semester. Among them was Christina Brannon of Old Forge, who studied Christianity in Africa in Uganda.

Talking movies

As part of this year’s Northeast Pennsylvania Film Festival, slated for March 22-24, there will be a panel discussion, “Pitch, Fund, Cast,” that will include casting director Mia Cusumano, an Old Forge native. The panel will be held Saturday, March 23, 10:30 a.m., at POSH at the Scranton Club. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door and include brunch.

Dean’s list

Kyra Pfeiffer of Taylor was placed on the deans’ commendation list for outstanding academic achievement in the fall semester at Gettysburg College.

Food pantry open

St. Michael’s Orthodox Church Food Pantry, 512 Winter St. in Old Forge, will be open Saturday, March 16, 11 a.m. to noon. This food pantry serves Old Forge, Taylor and Duryea. Anyone needing assistance from the food pantry should call 570-457-3703 or visit the church website stmichaelof.org for requirement criteria.
