Remembrance Walk

The third annual Hospice of the Sacred Heart Remembrance Walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at McDade Park in Scranton. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will step off at 10 a.m. The pet-friendly one-mile walk is appropriate for all levels of physical fitness. The $25 registration fee ($30 after Sept. 12) includes a pre-walk snack, a light lunch, and a T-shirt with a customizable pin-on bib, so participants can walk in memory of a loved one. Teams of five or more are $20 each and children 12 and younger will be admitted free. There will be a deejay, a basket raffle, gift card pull, balloon release and ice cream. Proceeds from the walk will help support Hospice of the Sacred Heart programs and services.

Identity Theft Presentation

Bert James, vice president and security officer at Fidelity Bank, will host a presentation on identity theft and scams at Taylor Community Library, 710 S. Main St., on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 1 p.m. Learn what you can do to protect yourself from hackers and thieves. Registration is requested.

Library Fundraiser

The Abington and Taylor libraries will hold an American Girl Doll/LEGO bingo fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Clarks Summit Fire Co. No. 1 on Bedford Street in Clarks Summit. The doors open at noon and games begin at 1. There will be raffle baskets, 50/50 tickets, a bake sale and food sales. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Church Flea Market

St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church will hold its annual flea market on Saturday, Sept. 15, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 16, and Saturday, Sept. 22, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days, in the church hall, 320 Vine St. in Old Forge. Antiques, jewelry, household items, furniture, children’s clothing, toys and more will be on sale. A variety of ethnic food items, baked goods, and refreshments will also be available.

Off to College
