Members of the Taylor Seniors Organization, who are also veterans, attended a free Veteran’s Day breakfast on Nov. 11, hosted by the Riverside School District.

Their primary purpose for attending, however, was not for a free breakfast, but to honor veterans, according to one member, Bob Gilroy.

“The food was good, the service was excellent by the students,” Gilroy said. “The students came by our table every 15 seconds to ask if we needed anything. Halfway through the event, three female students went to the microphone and asked everyone there to stand with their hand over their heart, and everyone sang the national anthem. When the anthem was over, spontaneous clapping began.”

The group is grateful to Superintendent Paul Brennan, who is also a veteran, and his staff for paying tribute to the veterans.
